So......
The Pro Bowl teams were listed today. So sad.... So many guys who were truly deserving missing out to 'name' guys. Tom Gay-dy had no reason being in that Pro Bowl. The man who gave him decent stats, Wes Welker, made it, deservably, and I couldn't be happier for him. But that pretty boy throwing him the ball got in on name alone.
How can a man who had the most yards in the entire NFL miss out on the Pro Bowl? That's right, Matt Schaub missed out on the Pro Bowl. After having a phenomenal year, he still doesn't get the acolades he deserves. At least Philip Rivers got in higher than Tom. Ben Roethlisberger shuold feel pretty unlucky.
Anyways, more guys were snubbed. I'll continue with the AFC first. Two guys who should've gotten in ahead of Maurice Jones-Drew: Cedric Benson and Thomas Jones. These guys had huge years and while Maurice was very explosive as thought, these two just don't deserve to be underneath him. I would say that if Ricky Williams was the starting HB for the Dolphins from the start of the year, he would be here too.
At FB, Le'Ron McClain was possibly not the best pick. Lousaka Polite was possibly an All-Pro FB but was still snubbed. It's a little BS that only one FB gets picked but I guess that s how it goes. Le'Ron did play well, no doubt about it, just Lousaka should feel a little robbed.
WR and TE were spot on, though Vincent Jackson and Chad Ochocinco should feel a little unlucky that their competition was just that good.
The O-line were awesome guys. Just superb picks. Again, just some guys should feel a little unlucky not to be picked but should use it as motivation. Michael Roos and Matt Light were probably just behind Joe Thomas and Ben Grubbs just behind Kris Dielman.
Those D-liners and LBs were pretty good picks, though Richard Seymour, Shaun Phillips, Jerod Mayo and Jarret Johnson should feel quite snubbed. They played very well but again, there are only so many places.
Champ Bailey has no right to be at this Pro-Bowl, especially considering that neither of the Bengals CBs made it in. Leon Hall had every right to be there, Champ Bailey had none.
Many would argue that Ed Reed shouldn't have been there, and while I think he should have been there, he shouldn't be starting. That should have gone to the other FS, Jarius Byrd. He had a phenomenal rookie season and was just unfortunate that he wasn't in the Pro-Bowl ballot earlier.
SS and the STs were fine, though I thought that "Mr Irrelevant" Ryan Succop had a great year, as did Stephen Gostkowski.
For the NFC, the QBs are pretty much right on, though Kurt Warner and Donovan McNabb shuold feel a little unlucky.
The HBs and FB were pretty good picks too, though Cadillac Williams had a very good comeback year.
The receivers had snubs.... so many snubs. Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Roddy White, Antonio Bryant, Marques Colston, Steve Smith (both) and (had he played from the start of the year) Michael Crabtree were all deserving players. Percy Harvin also had a sensational rookie year but he was more of an all round player than a brilliant receiver. But in saying this, those guys chosen also had sensational years.
I cannot fault the O-line at all. Those were great.
In the defense, I can really only think of 3 guys who were truly snubbed, London Fletcher-Baker, Pat Williams and Clay Matthews.
On ST, Percy Harvin should feel absolutely robbed. He was terrific in the return game. Ben Graham was absolutely terrific punting but Andy Lee was too.
So there's my rant. Enjoy the Pro-Bowl and "GO RAVENS!"
